QLD Deferred Waste Levy
QLD Deferred Waste Levy
The Queensland Government confirmed they will be deferring the waste levy increase originally scheduled to take effect from 1 July 2020, until 1 January 2021. This means the levy will stay at $75 per tonne for general waste, and $105 and $155 per tonne for hazardous (regulated) wastes until 31 December 2020. Additional information relating to the waste levy can be found here.
Providing landfill environmental management in both the public and private sectors, JBS&G is here to help navigate the subtle complexities of managing waste and contaminated soil in Queensland.
Many developments have occurred close to or on former landfills. On many occasions the proximity of the development to the landfill site has resulted in an unacceptable risk to the occupants from the potential migration of Landfill Gas.
Our expertise assists clients to identify, characterise and remediate areas around these areas to safe levels.
We also have experience designing mitigation systems for construction directly on top of landfill sites.
Don’t be afraid to get in touch if your project will-be/is generating waste or contaminated soil requiring management and you would like to take advantage of the levy increase freeze.
