During the Spring months there are a number of surveys and assessments that must be undertaken to avoid lengthy project delays and meet EPA requirements.

The Ecology team at Strategen-JBS&G is currently undertaking numerous spring surveys across the South West. This includes targeted surveys for Caladenia huegelii, a key orchid species found on the Swan Coastal Plain.

This species of spider orchid is typically found in Banksia woodland vegetation and is listed as Threatened under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

This spider orchid is only identifiable during its flowering period in September and October. Although more typically flowering in early October, our ecologists have recorded individuals currently in flower, so now is the time to be on the lookout.
