Spring survey time

Spring survey time

Caldadenia Huegelii

During the Spring months there are a number of surveys and assessments that must be undertaken to avoid lengthy project delays and meet EPA requirements.

The Ecology team at Strategen-JBS&G is currently undertaking numerous spring surveys across the South West. This includes targeted surveys for Caladenia huegelii, a key orchid species found on the Swan Coastal Plain.

This species of spider orchid is typically found in Banksia woodland vegetation and is listed as Threatened under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

This spider orchid is only identifiable during its flowering period in September and October. Although more typically flowering in early October, our ecologists have recorded individuals currently in flower, so now is the time to be on the lookout.

With experience across the depth and breadth of WA, our ecological team will develop a clear understanding of your project needs and risks and tailor solutions for your specific project requirements.

Working across the land development, mining and infrastructure sectors, the Strategen-JBS&G Ecology team offers a wide suite of services including:

  • Desktop and reconnaissance surveys
  • Baseline flora and fauna surveys
  • Targeted surveys
  • Monitoring
  • Due diligence
  • Rehabilitation
  • Management plans.

To discuss your ecological survey needs and the best timing for your project please touch in with our Ecology team members via email or call us on 08 9380 3100.
