Addressing the kangaroo challenge
Addressing the kangaroo challenge
Our well-known Australian marsupial – the kangaroo, continues to arise as a time consuming and expensive obstacle for property development. The increasing population of kangaroos combined with urban sprawl, land clearing and density, has seen mobs now closer to towns, city centres and even suburban neighbourhoods.
Not considered a Threatened Species but protected under the Biodiversity Conservation Act; kangaroos can be overlooked during the due diligence, acquisition and approvals process and become a serious issue during the development phase.
If not factored into project development, it comes as a considerable extra cost - causing significant delays, community anxiety and often negative publicity. Their removal needs to be managed safely and effectively, whilst minimising an array of potential impacts.
Join Strategen-JBS&G and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions as we address this growing issue faced by developers and provide guidance across all facets of identifying, managing and solving the kangaroo challenge.
